Wheel Adapter Center Bore: Check the Vehicle Side and Wheel Side

by Billet Wheel Adapters on Oct 01, 2026 Categories: News

A wheel-adapter bore check has two sides: how the adapter fits over the vehicle hub, and how the wheel fits the adapter's wheel-side interface. One unlabeled “hub bore” number may not answer both questions.

Label the measurements by location

Record What you are identifying
Vehicle hub diameter The vehicle-side centering surface
Adapter vehicle-side bore The opening that receives the vehicle hub
Adapter wheel-side lip, if present The feature intended to locate the wheel
Wheel center bore The opening in the wheel

Keep the units and source of every figure. If a dimension is unknown, write “not confirmed.” Repeating one measurement in several boxes can make an incomplete specification look complete.

Diameter is not the entire shape

A bore or lip has depth and shape as well as diameter. Ask about the relevant hub projection, lip height, chamfer and mounting-face clearance for the specific product. A photograph of the front face may not reveal these features.

A component that appears close in size is not enough evidence. Do not plan to force, grind or modify a part to correct an unverified fit.

How to interpret hub-centric wording

Our hub-centric and lug-centric guide explains the terminology. For ordering, follow the label with a more useful question: which side is centered, by which feature, and to what dimensions?

Browse the hub and wheel centric collection, then review the specific product. Do not assume every item has identical vehicle-side and wheel-side bore dimensions or that a centering ring resolves every mismatch.

Find the wheel's own specification

Use the exact wheel manufacturer and part number. Wheel Pros identifies center bore as a separate specification in its wheel-specification reference; it should not be inferred from bolt pattern alone.

When contacting us, send the product link, vehicle hub measurement and the wheel's published center bore. Ask us to identify which interface an unlabeled bore value describes before completing the order.

Frequently asked questions

Is hub bore the same thing as bolt pattern?

No. The bore describes a central opening or centering interface; the bolt pattern describes the lug arrangement.

Can I assume a single bore number applies to both faces?

No. Ask which side it describes and whether the wheel-side centering feature has a separate specification.
